CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) and Guernsey County Community Development Corporation (CDC) announce the recent completion of a county-wide housing study, which was designed to document housing needs in the local community.
Vogt Strategic Insights conducted research, demographic analysis, and community visits to assess the current housing stock and determine housing needs. The study also provided specific options for community-owned property south of Toland Drive in Cambridge Township.
“Housing is a critical need in Guernsey County, which is why the Community Development Corporation works diligently to ensure availability of affordable housing, so when the opportunity came to partner with the Community Improvement Corporation to conduct a housing study, we jumped at the opportunity,” said Ron Gombeda, Executive Director, Guernsey County CDC. “We knew that affordable housing would be listed as being in high demand, but what this study showed us is that housing of all types is desperately needed. We hope that this study will prompt developers to seriously consider investing in housing opportunities in Guernsey County,” Gombeda added.
“Housing is an important component of economic development whether existing businesses are looking to expand, or new companies are considering the community for a new operation,” said Bill Arnett, Executive Director, Cambridge-Guernsey County CIC. “We can use the study to actively educate developers about the opportunities that exist here with the goal of attracting new housing units,” he added.
The project was funded by the CIC, CDC, Cambridge Developmental Center Property Consortium, which includes the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Township, Guernsey County, Guernsey County Port Authority, and CIC, and by a generous donation from the Peoples Bank Foundation.
“Supporting organizations that share our vision to improve our communities is important to Peoples Bank’s mission as a community bank,” said “Mike Yanico and Matt Dolan, Peoples Bank Business Bankers and Guernsey Noble County Co-Market Team Leaders. “We are impressed with the work being done by the CIC and its partners to make the community an even better place to live and do business,” they said.
