CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel provided remarks Wednesday, October 1, during the Cambridge-Guernsey Community Improvement Corporation (CGCIC) Manufacturing Appreciation Luncheon held at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center. About 100 representatives from manufacturing companies, allied industries, education, and government attended the event. The manufacturing appreciation luncheon is held in October in celebration of Manufacturing Month. Park National Bank and OhioSE Economic Development sponsored this year’s event.
“We visit about 40 manufacturers and allied industries each year as part of economic development strategy, and workforce development and talent retention and attraction are often topics of discussion,” said Bill Arnett, Economic Development Director, CGCIC. “Lt. Gov. Tressel is leading the state’s efforts in these areas, and we are grateful he was able to share his thoughts with us,” Arnett added.
In addition to Lt. Gov. Tressel’s remarks, Jennifer Vincent, President, CGCIC Board of Trustees, welcomed attendees to the event. Guernsey County Commissioner Jack Marlin provided the invocation, and Matt Abbott, President & CEO, OhioSE Economic Development, introduced Lt. Gov. Tressel.
The Cambridge-Guernsey CIC was created in 1965 to serve as the local economic development office in Guernsey County. Its mission is to develop and implement strategies to attract and retain business and industry in the area, while engaging in activities to promote the overall quality of life for the citizens of Guernsey County.
