Ascent Energy Resources, located in the D.O. Hall Business Center, continues to be a leader in the production of natural gas with the majority of the top-producing wells in Ohio. While this majority of drilling is still centered east of Guernsey County, higher oil prices per barrel is encouraging the effort to move west. A significant number of well service companies have remained in the county since the boom in 2014. This is seen as an indication the thrust of exploration efforts will produce evidence that drilling in Guernsey County would be highly profitable. To date, more than 275 wells have been drilled in the county.
